Summer, 1816. Glamourists Jane and David Vincent return home to an unseasonably cold Long Parkmeade. Cooped up inside with Jane’s fretful sister and father, they soon become restless, so when they receive a commission from a prominent family in London, they decide to go – taking Melody with them. Perhaps the change of scenery will brighten their moods (and Melody’s marriage prospects).

The capital is fizzing with talk of crop failures and unemployment riots in the north. Finding it difficult to avoid getting embroiled in the intrigue, it’s not long before Jane and David realise they must use their magic to solve a crisis of international proportions . . . and get Melody to the church on time.

An elegantly crafted novel
John Scalzi
Simply enchanting
Publishers Weekly
Readers will appreciate the realistically warm and loving romance between Jane and Vincent all the more for their flaws and foibles, as their relationship is tested by internal and external forces.
Brandon Sanderson
I love these books! They're an ideal mix between adventure, character, and magic.
Library Journal
The underlying fantastical nature of this Regency England continues to flourish, making a unique backdrop for discussing complex topics of social inequality, superstition obscuring scientific fact, and political corruption. Even as the intricate natural and social elements engage readers, it is the sweet, strong emotional connections that draw them back for more.
SFX
A delightful read, with an examination of craft and emotion of art combined with deftly drawn characters, laugh-out-loud wit and a magical re-imagining of Georgian society.
Romantic Times, Top Pick!
...an emotionally involving story that culminates in a genuinely thrilling climax. With each entry, Kowal's worldbuilding has only gotten more confident and the series better and better.
USA Today
In her Glamourist Histories series, she captures the tone of an Austen or a Heyer, while setting the stories in a world where ladies of Quality must manipulate Glamour to create intricate illusions.
Cherie Priest
With magic, manners, mayhem, and no small measure of derring-do - the Glamourist Histories are everything you could wish for in a sleek, fashionable fantasy series. A shimmering adventure for history buffs and glamour enthusiasts alike.
